About Denly's Featured Products

History

Tom Denly, the principal owner, has been buying and selling coins since 1955. He founded Denly's Coins of Boston (now known as Denly's of Boston) back in 1973.

In 1978, Dave Bowers, then part owner of Bower's and Ruddy, turned down a small group of Gem paper money. The seller then contacted Tom who ultimately purchased the lot. The next week, Tom displayed the notes, made several immediate sales and quickly became hooked on currency.

Soon after his start in currency, Tom began his famous collection of Boston Obsolete Bank Notes and Scrip. He sold that collection in 2003, but still collects Nationals and Obsoletes from the areas south of Boston.

Tom Denly is one of the very few dealers in the world whose currency offerings span the entire range of currency. His holdings cover the areas of Large Type Notes, National Currency, Continental & Colonial Currency, Fractional Currency, Confederate Currency, Small Size Currency, Canadian Currency and Foreign bank notes and scrip.

Denly's has been the largest advertiser in the Bank Note Reporter (the monthly currency collector newspaper) for the past 18 years and is the winner of many awards including the Society of Paper Money's highest honor, The Award of Merit.
